On the evening of 19th August, Antler space in Nairobi filled with women rewriting what healthcare can look like in Africa. As part of the MedTech Connect Series, and in partnership with Medevice, Invention Education Kenyatta University hosted: ‘Women in STEM: Transforming Healthcare’. It brought together an extraordinary cross-section of the ecosystem. Biomedical engineers from Mama Lucy Kibaki, Machakos Level 5, Mbagathi, and Kiambu hospitals. Founders and CEOs building companies like Waridi Labs, Hakikisho Labs, and EBikes Africa. Doctors, lecturers, technical engineers, and students from Kenyatta University, the Technical University of Mombasa, and beyond. What connected them was not a job title. It was a shared conviction that science, technology, engineering, and innovation are how we close the gaps in African healthcare, and that women belong at the centre of that work. To every woman who showed up, spoke up, and connected: thank you for reminding us what the future of healthcare looks like.
